This workshop is a master class, designed for those with experience in blacksmithing, who own and anvil and have a project concept which can be converted from ideas on paper into steel, under the guidance and tutelage of Adrian Hobba, one of Australia’s leading blacksmiths. His Smithy has become something of an institution with the annual hosting of The Great Dragonweyr Smite, where the craft of the blacksmith is celebrated annually.
Spinning, Dyeing, Weaving and Feltmaking

Join Romy Andres as she explores with you the ancient methods of carding and spinning, and dyeing with vegetable matter. Then transform your yarn using primitive frames or French knitting into objects of art, which can either to be worn or hung for displayed on the wall.

Explore the potential of the unique and beautiful natural features of the Lost World Valley landscape as subject matter for pastel drawings. Dave Groom will provide tuition which will enable you to transform images of the local terrain into works of art on paper.

Antone will introduce you to the tools and techniques employed in this discipline, but most importantly he will show you how to “read stone” as he guides you through the processes of creating a stylized sandstone sculpture.

Glen will use the first half of this three day workshop to instruct students in Japanese and journal stich book-binding methods. The second part of the workshop will focus on the creation of unique individual box pieces which combine elements of collage and assemblage. Participants will be encouraged to create individual box structures which explore narratives relating to their own history through the use of their own resource materials.
