| DAY 2, SESSION 1Instruction and construction of slip case for journal. Instruction and completion of Japanese binding method. |

| DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCT TO BE COMPLETED BY STUDENTIn the first half of the three day workshop participants will be instructed in Japanese and journal stitch bookbinding methods. The second part of the workshop will focus on the creation of unique individual box pieces which combine elements of collage and assemblage. Participants will be encouraged to create individual box structures which explore narratives relating to their own history through the use of resource materials. |

LIST OF MATERIALS TO BE SUPPLIED BY STUDENTS (if possible/applicable please list sources and approximate costs)Bookbinding:-1. one full size sheet of 2 or 2.5mm strawboard (any good art shop will have a supply)2. 3 full sheets of any print or watercolour paper no heavier than 250gsm, 2 sheets of light weight Canson coloured pastel paper or similar (free colour choice)3. sewing needle, roll of linen or wax thread (black or white in colour) bone folder (optional) small tube of PVA glue (Aquadhere recommended) 1&2cm flat paint brushes4. masking tape, 2 bull-dog clips, pocket Stanley knife, HB pencil, 60cm steel ruler, cutting boardBox Assemblage Materials:-
