This event is an initiative of the Lost World Valley Community, the Garden Hill at lost World Gallery and Museum and the Beaudesert and District Community Arts Projects

DURATION OF WORKSHOP – 4 DAYS                                   COST – $280 + materials and equipment
STATUS OF STUDENT- Suitable for beginners, or those with limited experience
DAILY SCHEDULE OF OUTCOMES
DAY 1, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
DAY 1, SESSION 1Carding raw wool and alpaca fleeces 
DAY 1, SESSION 2Spinning the carded fibre using an ancient spindle and spinning wheel. Prepare dye bath. 
DAY 2, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
DAY 2, SESSION 1Dyeing own spun wool and raw fleece with vegetable matter such as:- marigold flowers, onion skins, tea leaves or bracken fern
DAY 2, SESSION 2As above
DAY 3, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
DAY 3, SESSION1Transform the coloured spun wool using primitive frames – weaving
DAY 3, SESSION 2French knitting and begin felt making as the nomads made it. Begin felt making, simply, as the nomads made it.
DAY 4, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
DAY 4, SESSION 1Complete individual art work
DAY 4, SESSION2Complete individual art work
DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCT TO BE COMPLETED BY STUDENTStudents will each create their own choice of wearable art, or art creation, e.g. scarf, hat, bag, felted wall hangings or rugs using alpaca fibres using techniques explored and skills developed during the workshop.

(c) working spinning wheel if possible

(d) any interesting yarn or material for weaving

(e) pliable dried organic material, such as vines or branches, to construct simple weaving frames (some of this material can be collected locally)
